Sutton Place Edmonton

Great hotel for the price. I agree with some other reviewers that the rooms are in need of a remodel but they are a good size and very clean. We were more than happy and the hotel met our needs as somewhere to stay for a few nights before our wedding. I also accidentally booked the wrong dates and the helpful front desk sorted it out for me. We then moved to the Fairmont Macdonald for our wedding. The staff were not as friendly there as at the Sandman. Bang for buck I’d definitely stay at the Sandman again rather than the Fairmont Macdonald.

Very disappointed with our overnight stay in room 615 at this downtown hotel to find such a poor condition room more so the response from reception and a failure to respond to email complaint to alleged General Manager but we were as it were 'trapped' in this venue by our pre booking. One of five bookings on this trip booked with Sandman hotels and by a significant amount the worst venue with them and in our entire holiday. Excuse was the hotel is 'undergoing some renovations' by reception team (no offer to check!) but what we encountered was very troubling and a situation many months/years in the making! We encountered decayed furniture in all elements other than beds, badly cracked washbasin, leaking taps when turned on which had to run constantly as basin plug not retaining water, shower not very good, window in advanced decay both dirty and failed double glazing obstructing view, no net curtain - direct vision from offices outside, similar glazing failure incidentally in lift lobby 6th floor. Then to cap it all found a Pizza advertising flyer lodged in the door in the morning suggesting the security of hotel is poor for someone to gain access to lodge this flyer in all rooms - very worrying in a downtown allegedly upscale venue!!!! (room access card needed to use lit!)Heartily recommend anyone offered this hotel to be aware all is not as it should be and unlikely to get a reasonable response from staff or management. Very Very Unusual in our experience in Canada over many trips and over the years.

Had a mid week 3 night stay, reception staff friendly, room although in need of a freshen up was spotlessly clean, the pool on the top floor was good as well,great location which for us without a car was ideal, close to the tram system and a bus stop opposite the hotel, ideal for going to the Edmonton west mall. Now Edmonton itself, it was a mini break as we were staying over in BC and thought we'd try it, I'd read the horror stories about the homeless and drug issues,tbh it was no worse than I'd seen in any other Canadian town or city and because of that it didn't bother us,one night we walked back from the casino at 2 in the morning, no issues at all.. Coming from the UK alot of our cities can be rough and edgy, Edmonton didn't even come close to some of ours , would I go back , definitely, the mall and Fort Edmonton worth a visit and all the people we encountered on public transport were super friendly
