SUPER 8 BROOKS

We stayed at the Canalta Brooks during our Alberta road trip and unfortunately the experience fell short. The hotel is under renovations, but we weren’t advised of this ahead of time. After a long day of hiking with kids, we were really looking forward to the waterslide and pool — both were unavailable, which was a big disappointment. When we asked at the front desk, we were told we should have been informed in advance. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and it made a big difference to our stay. Our room itself was large, clean, and comfortable, which gave us plenty of space to relax. That said, the hallways had an odd smell — not a deal-breaker, but noticeable. It added to the sense that the property is in transition. It’s clear the renovations will likely make the hotel gorgeous once complete, but for now it fell short. For families, amenities like the pool and clear communication are key. Hopefully both improve as work continues.

A great location for a stay in Brooks, easy to find just off the #1 highway. This hotel is clean and updated, the beds are comfy. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast has many options with both hot and cold items. We love that this chain of hotels is owned by Canadians.

Stayed there with my kids and found 2 bugs in the bathroom. My kids was so terrifed. Would not want to go to sleeep. They are so scared that the bug would crawled on their ears. I went down to the front dest and informed the front desk agent said "oh its just a maple bug its normal. i about killed 15 today." I was mortified. No apologies, no emotion, no emphaty. Not even offer to move us into a different room. She just shrug her shoulders and didn't say anything. The next morning around 7 am my kids woke up as the room above us was so loud. You can hear them showering, bumping into something. It's just too loud my kids couldn't go back to sleep and they found anothe bug in the window. We decided to book a hotel so i can rest but did not get the rest i was hoping for.
