Diplomat Motel

We checked in, ridiculously over priced but that’s everything theses days! First thing we did was flip over the blackest, bed bugs! No not stay here! Again……bed bugs. I guess I have to put 200 words here so here goes the police stinks for one. It smells like smoking, bad breath and stale vinyl. Not to mention the homeless people and drug users all around that hotel shooting up getting gross and dirty and disgusting half a block from the hotel Owen.

The owner specially waited up for us, after we arrived off the last ferry of the day. The room itself was extremely clean and spacious, with very comfortable beds. The bathroom looked like it had just been completely refitted, as it was immaculate. Really impressed and 100% recommended!!

Contrary to a number of reviews, we had a good stay here. Not the nicest area of Nanaimo, but convenient along the main road from the ferry. Family suite was a full 2br apartment, clean but not brand new. The gentleman at the front desk was courteous and helpful. DQ across the street. They only rent to out of towners now, which may have been why we had a nice quiet stay.
