The English Inn

I've been here twice. The first time with my husband before we married. It was such a cool vibe. I believe we were in the Shakespeare room. During the middle of the night we had a lot of supernatural occurrences. I didn't get much sleep with little goblins coming in and out of a window and a suit of armor with a purple feather on his helmet standing by the bed and taunting me! Other than that it was great!

I live close by and this place has been under construction for several months, and have no idea when it will reopen. Gone are the beautiful grounds, in their place will be condos, which the people of Esquimalt are looking forward to opening. There is constant traffic of dump trucks and blasting into November this year. I am looking forward to seeing it when it opens but am not going to hold my breath until then.

My wife and I stayed at the English Inn during our first stay in Victoria and could not have had a better experience. We absolutely loved our room (kind of like a loft) and the amenities were top-notch! We really enjoyed the history of the actual building, but the surrounding buildings with hay roofs were so much fun to be around and experience. The location is very close to the water, so you can walk and explore and also there are close grocery stores and parks. Ideal! (we actually traveled in 2017).
