We stayed at the Glynmill Inn for two nights during our Newfoundland road trip after a rather challenging drive from Gander to Corner Brook in torrential rain. We broke up the journey with a stop at Deer Lake to grab something to eat before continuing on.
The Glynmill Inn has plenty of character, with its attractive Tudor-style architecture giving it a warm, homely feel. Our room was clean, comfortable and traditionally decorated in neutral beige and brown tones. We did have a small issue with the TV after checking in, but a quick call to reception had someone come to our room and the problem was soon resolved.
Breakfast is served at the table rather than as a buffet. While the staff were friendly and accommodating, the options for guests with dietary intolerances could be improved. There was gluten-free toast available, but no gluten-free cereal or dairy-free milk. I opted for the Coach Breakfast without the gluten-containing items, which worked well enough. The breakfast offer for hotel guests at CAD $10.99 per person was good value.
Our breakfast server was friendly and suggested we visit the Lark Harbour and York Harbour area, where she was from. After experiencing the Marble Zip Tour, we stopped for a late lunch at Myrtle's on the Bay in Lark Harbour before continuing to the beautiful Bottle Cove, where we enjoyed a short walk to the Captain Cook's End Trail monument. We returned via the Captain James Cook Historic Site, which was well worth a visit.
We also completed the Three Bear Mountain Trail, which rewards you with some excellent views over Corner Brook. Closer to the hotel, the lakeside walk is a nice way to spend some time, although we'd recommend doing it earlier in the day before the evening insects emerge.
Overall, the Glynmill Inn was a comfortable and characterful base for exploring the Corner Brook area. If I were rating the hotel on its stay alone, I'd probably describe it as "Good" rather than "Very Good", mainly because the breakfast options for guests with dietary requirements were quite limited. However, I felt it was certainly better than "Average", so I awarded it four bubbles.

Fantastic old classic hotel. At the last minute we decided to do down to Corner Brook, and booked a king suite with breakfast. Had dinner in the grill that evening and enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. It felt like something that should be in a National Park. Service and staff were great, the room super comfortable. So glad we stayed there.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Glynmill Inn in the middle of September 2025.
I had accident a couple of days prior, which resulted in a broken bone in my right foot and I was unable to weight bear, so I was using an aircast walking boot to immobilize the foot and crutches. My mobility issues were very obvious!
With some difficulty, we managed to get me up the front stairs to the reception area. There was no signage indicating there was a ramp at the back of the building and the reception staff did not make us aware of the ramp. The room they assigned us was #245, which those familiar with the hotel, will recognize as being one of the rooms furthest from the elevator. Likely the furthest I have ever experienced from an elevator at any hotel. Unfortunately we were not aware of the length of the trek until we started the journey to the room. Granted, I had made the reservation prior to my injury, but incorrectly assumed that because of the obvious injury, they would attempt to give us a room close to the elevator or explain that no other rooms were available.
With the exception of the carpet, the room was clean, adequate space, large bathroom and the bed was very comfortable.
The next morning my husband located the ramp.
We asked reception staff about a detour route, because of road construction in Corner Brook, and were given incorrect information.
When we returned from our day excursion, we told the reception staff we were parked in their handicapped parking space by the ramp, at the back of the building.
We were informed we could not park there without a provincial gov't parking permit and they could not provide us with a temporary paper hotel authorization for one night. They suggested we go up to the hospital and attempt to get a disability parking pass from them. After that conversation, other than checking out, we saw no point in communicating with them any further.
The dining room staff were excellent and our breakfasts were very good.
Fortunately I was travelling with my husband who was able to check the facility for accessibility, drop me off, pick me up and park the vehicle.
The Glynmill did email us a link to a survey regarding our stay, but we have been unable to open the link.
Our experience with the Glynmill reception was in sharp contrast the excellent service we received from all the other service providers we encounter on our trip to Newfoundland.
