My husband and I stayed in a water view King room at this hotel on March 9 and 10th of this year and I have to say it was the worst experience I’ve had at a hotel in over 40 years of travel. On the first day of our stay, I had been out shopping and as I entered the hotel, a member of the housekeeping staff stood standing near the reception desk, so I smiled at her and said hello. She did not reply, but stared at me with a look of absolute disgust on her face, then turned to the woman working reception and jerked her thumb towards me. It was immediately clear that she thought I did not belong in the hotel. The woman at reception looked horrified and vigorously shook her head no back-and-forth to indicate that yes actually I was allowed to be there because I was a paying guest at the hotel. Now I realize I had a couple of rips in my jeans and was holding a recyclable dollar store bag but does that mean I’m homeless? It was hard to not feel upset for the remainder of the day and I have to wonder why a person like this is even employed at the hotel. I don’t know the woman’s name, but she did have mid length dark hair worn in a very tight ponytail. I seriously hope management or the owners of this hotel will address this unacceptable behaviour.

I feel I am in good company of other reviewers saying that this hotel is charging far too high prices for the low bar of service they provide. Forget about the terrible breakfast box that is exactly the same everyday and the lack of basic amenities. The hotel is old and clearly has plumbing issues. All housekeeping appeared to do was make the beds and bring towels and didn't even do that one day when it was requested. My keys for my sixth floor room stopped working several times over my stay and I had to trek down to the lobby and get them reprogramed nightly almost when I returned late from visiting my severely injured husband in hospital.
My largest issue was the night I returned home very late from the hospital (on my birthday no less) and was met with a clogged toilet- despite me being gone from the room all day. I had seen the front desk agent leave another room on the floor with a plunger the day before so the hotel was definitely aware of the plumbing issue. My MIL also complained to the front desk that her tub didn't drain. A male front desk agent attended my room late at night with the plunger and as a women, I did not feel that was a safe situation. I stood in the doorway with the door open, but still felt there should have been more consideration of my comfort and safety. He was unable to fix the toilet, after many attempts to plunge- causing toilet water to be all over the bathroom floor and leaving me with a clogged toilet and the dirty plunger in the bathroom all night. He offered me keys to an empty room down the hall to access the bathroom, but no other offers were made to help me resolve the issue other than move all my luggage by myself that night and then back again in the morning.
I was not offered any reimbursement or compensation for all of the complaints I lodged. I was given a "compassionate" rate at the beginning of my stay- negotiated by my father-in-law who had to fight to get the rate below $200/night. When I voiced my concerns upon my early check out (couldn't wait to leave), I advised that I felt I should not be charged the entire fee because of my consistent problems and the agents and managers were unwilling to provide me with anything except for telling me they had waived the $20/night parking fee (robbery considering guests are paying for the room and the parking garage is terrifying) and they felt that was sufficient compensation. My parking fee was arranged to be waived upon check-in for the entirety of my stay as an act of compassion for my situation, so this was not compensation. I seemed to have to remind every employee of that as they continually tried to charge me and those staying with me for support the parking fee. So I hardly consider that to be adequate for what I went through.
On top of it all, every front desk person I spoke to interrupted and spoke over me as I tried to explain my situation. I understand that they just wanted to get the quickest solution to get me to stop talking, but it was rude and inconsiderate. It costs nothing and takes 5 minutes to listen to a guest to the end of their sentence before interjecting. It would have made a world of difference.

Classic tourist hotel, but great and comfortable. Staff very helpful and kind. Very nice and spacious room, modern, with large separate entrance area with a very large wardrobe. Comfortable bathroom. Very clean.
Beautiful window overlooking the lake, to be taken into account also for the proximity to the lake, the pier, the city center and restaurants.
There is also a breakfast included, uninviting, which is why the choice was to go to one of the many bistros nearby.
However overall great hotel. The only flaw, because of the air conditioning, the windows could not open in any way.
