The Americana is great value for your money. While the rooms are nothing fancy, and the TV channels very few, it is a clean place to rest your hear while having fun in the Falls. Rooms come with a mini fridge and a microwave. Make sure to bring all your toiletries as they come with a two in one shampoo commercial despenser in the shower. No creams, shower gels or tissues. The staff are all so lovely. Not one was unpleasant from the front desk to the pool restaurants to the life guards. The waterpark while smaller, is perfect if you have kids under 12 and you want to have eyes on them at all times. There are 4 very fun waterslides, a warm (so important!) wave pool that is shallow- My 6 year old almost touched bottom at the very back- and a great little splash/waterslide area for the smallest kids in tow. The arcade was mediocre and overpriced but thats to be expected in these kinds of places. There is a grocery store in the adjacent parking lot and many restaurants within walking or driving distance without having to head into the chaos of Clifton Hill. We ate at Johnny Roccos- a 4 minute drive away from the crazy tourist area, with excellent food and great service. Overall, a fantastic overnight and fun experience in the falls.

Let me tell you about my experiences as a disabled individual. To begin with, we were seniors traveling with a bus trip from Indiana; I require a motorized scooter as I have limited walking abilities. The scooter was unloaded from under the bus at each stop. I take it to my room each night to plug it in and recharge it. There are steps at the front door of the hotel, and the ramp and handicap entrance are over on the side in a different area. I am fairly independent and had a single room. The door between my room and the hall was very heavy and snaps shut very quickly, making it difficult to enter and exit. It was a struggle. The breakfast area was very crowded when we were there, as there were several busses and it was difficult to get through the line. I was able to tip one of the workers to help fill a breakfast plate for me and bring it to me in the Bistro. The big problem was in the mornings when the bus was loading at the front doors (with steps) and I had to exit through the side door. I pushed the handicap button to open the door; first door opened into a little lobby. I pushed the second button to open the door to the outside; it clicked, but didn't open. Three times I tried! I was trapped in the little lobby and all the people were on the bus except me! Panic! I reported to the desk the handicap button to open up was broken, but no one ever fixed it. Next day--same thing! I have learned through traveling in the past to move a chair into the bathroom so I can better access the toilet and shower, so I am thankful for the lightweight moveable chair that I was able to use, as there is nothing for the elderly to hang onto in the bathroom.

I’m honestly not even sure where to start. Check in was fine and the agent was polite and helpful. Breakfast and BP were fair. The maintenance gentleman that had to come to our room was great. Room was nothing exciting but it was clean and my little ones only really cared about the water park so I looked beyond what this place was lacking. Waterpark staff were also great! One thing I cannot get over is the behaviour I witnessed and conversations and comments by two staff in particular. First was someone from housekeeping, maybe a supervisor/manager. She was a tiny thing, dark hair. I believe she was maybe checking rooms?? My children and I don’t care what or who you did on your day off, nor do we care how much alcohol was involved. I’m not sure anyone does to be honest. Perhaps keep this private, where guests, especially kids can’t hear it. This is not something I would expect from a grown adult in your position. Next issue was in the arcade/snackbar. The students were amazing. Interacted with the kids and were so kind. I was really impressed with the few I dealt with. One that stuck out as not so kind was Matt or Mike. Just plain rude. I overheard him tell a younger girl that he’s in charge and if she complains he’ll have her fired. Only someone who is truly unhappy with themselves would be this awful to others. Last was while I was waiting for the elevator. I find it odd that there are offices in guest areas. Closing the door or keeping your voices down are my suggestion. Guests do not need or want to hear private conversations. My hope is that this reaches the correct people to perhaps provide some coaching to these individuals. In a hotel of this size, there are eyes and ears everywhere. I spent many years in customer service and hospitality and this is beyond unprofessional. It’s actually quite disgusting and I typically don’t leave reviews but felt that I couldn’t let this one go. I will NOT recommend this hotel and will NEVER be back.
