The Tower Hotel

...is the faded, shabby hotel called the Tower Hotel Fallsview. The rates are essentially bait and switch as, having chosen not to pay another $100 for a view of the falls, we were given a lobby room looking out on...a wall. And it had a curious smell. When we asked about options we were told there were no rooms left. But booking.com showed two remaining. Sow e asked again and were told we could get another room for... $999! Not kidding. I get that virtually everything in Niagara Falls has become a tourist trap, but this is absurd. We did far better in very expensive Toronto. Avoid like the plague...

--- The whole area is absolutely saturated with hotels, and with so many rooms packed into such a small radius, that horrid dynamic‑pricing system is clearly in full swing. Finding the hotel itself is easy enough though — you can’t really miss a building shaped like an Olympic torch. We took the WEGO bus, which is a separate company from the public buses. Even though our pre‑purchased attraction tickets weren’t activated at the train station, the driver advised us to activate them at the attraction instead. So we got on at rail station and off at the Hilton stop. Reception was clean, modern, and the staff were friendly when booking us in. We stayed on the 29th floor. One floor has an IHOP café/restaurant, and there’s also another viewing floor. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, you can access the lovely viewing level. Our room was genuinely lovely and looked newly refurbished. I really liked the hexagon tiles in the bathroom in line with the building’s shape. We asked for a kettle, but none were available. Fair enough: coffee everywhere, tea not the national drink. The coffee machine and the coffee itself were fine, even for someone like me who only drinks coffee under duress (usually to stay awake). The temperature was comfortable, the room spotless, and the bed very comfortable. The huge windows in the bedroom gave a great view — we were on the city side, but it was still impressive. Later in the evening we wandered to the viewing floor with a glass of wine and watched the lights and fireworks over Niagara Falls. The view from up there is spectacular. It wasn’t crowded, and there were plenty of seats with excellent views Rooms aren’t serviced unless you ask, but if you need things like coffee, milk, or toilet rolls, you can collect them from the front desk. We weren’t there long enough to need fresh towels, but when we asked for a few bits they brought them up to the room. One thing I noticed — and this will either help guests or confuse them — is the lifts. Even after a few days I still hadn’t quite worked them out. Nothing major, just mildly baffling. The bar at Hilton very expensive if you want a night cap. Overall, we would recommend it. A great stay

We had the room with a view of the falls, and it is worth it. No need to pay to access the observation tower or freeze to see the fireworks and the illuminated falls at night. Everything can be seen from the room. Parking is not easy; we have no choice but to use their services.
