Quality Hotel & Executive Suites Oakville

Stay away. This hotel inexplicably decided that my confirmed reservation was “fake” and canceled it without calling me or providing any explanation. I arrived around 10 PM to check in, only to be told, with a polite but completely meaningless apology, that they had given my room away to someone else and had no other rooms available. I had to scramble late at night to find another place to stay. Fortunately, there is a much nicer and friendlier hotel just across the street.

We booked TownePlace Suites Oakville for five nights as part of a longer holiday in Canada. Unfortunately, after staying just one night, we made the decision to check out and move elsewhere. I want to start with the positives. The staff were excellent throughout. Check-in was friendly and efficient, and when we later encountered problems with the room technology, Paul from Guest Services genuinely did everything he could to help. The issues we experienced were clearly not his fault, and he should be commended for both his attitude and effort. The room itself was a One Bedroom Suite with Balcony. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good, and the suite was clean and generally well presented. However, there were a number of issues that, taken together, made the property unsuitable for the extended stay we had booked. Firstly, the website describes the room as having a "full kitchen". In my opinion, this is misleading. The kitchen consisted of a two-ring electric hob and a microwave. There was no oven. For a property marketed towards longer stays, this significantly limits what guests can actually cook. The kitchen area itself was also poorly lit. The only light serving the kitchen appeared to be shared with the hallway, leaving the workspace surprisingly dark and making food preparation awkward. The kitchen equipment was also lacking. There were no wine glasses, only glasses that were somewhere between a highball glass and a pint glass. This may seem minor, but it contributes to the overall feeling that the suite is not truly equipped for extended stays. The biggest issue by far was the television and Wi-Fi setup. We always travel with a Fire Stick. The television had accessible HDMI ports, but they would not function correctly. While this was frustrating, we were prepared to use the built-in casting functionality instead. Unfortunately, that did not work either. The system required us to connect the television to a mobile device via a QR code. The QR code generated an invalid link. The alternative manual method, which involved entering a website address displayed on screen, also resulted in an invalid page. Paul from Guest Services spent a considerable amount of time trying to resolve the issue. We attempted multiple workarounds, including bypassing the hotel's TV hardware and troubleshooting the casting system. Nothing worked. What makes this particularly frustrating is that this is the second Marriott property I have stayed in within the last four weeks where similar television and casting issues have existed. The previous property was a Moxy hotel. Marriott appears to have invested heavily in these technology systems, yet the guest experience remains unreliable and unnecessarily complicated. For many travellers today, especially those staying multiple nights, the ability to stream personal content is not a luxury feature; it is an expected part of the hotel experience. The fact that neither casting nor external streaming devices functioned correctly was a major disappointment. The living area also felt undersized for a suite designed for extended stays. The sofa was extremely small and not particularly comfortable for two adults. Ultimately, that is the biggest issue with this property. It is marketed as a long-stay hotel, but in reality it feels much more suited to a one-night stopover. If your plan is to eat out every meal or order food delivery and spend little time in the room, it may be perfectly adequate. However, for guests expecting to make meaningful use of the kitchen facilities and enjoy the suite as a home-from-home for several days, I believe it falls short. The staff were excellent and did everything they reasonably could. My disappointment is directed far more towards the product itself and some of the decisions made at Marriott corporate level than towards the people working at the hotel.

Great stay with our teenage daughters for March Break. The hotel is right off the highway so easy to find. The Go station is nearby as well. When we arrived the room was prepared and they took into consideration our special requests like extra towels in the room. The room didn't feel all that busy even at breakfast. The food was good for us as a family. Some hot options including eggs, waffles, and bacon on one of the days we were there. There is cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, juice, and nuts/granola plus some fruit like oranges, apples, and bananas. The seating area is nice and my wife and I enjoyed coffee together in the lobby for a while mid-day. The pool and gym are nice and we really liked the hand sensors that open them without having to touch the door handles. This was super convenient and I haven't seen that in any other Marriott brand hotel we have stayed at. The machines in the gym are modern and the pool is well cared for. Our room had a balcony which was nice (a little cold this time of year) and a kitchenette which was great for family meal time when we stayed in. We appreciated that the table seated 4 rather than 2 in some other hotels. Overall we had a laid back March Break and thank Townplace Suites for their hospitality.
