Chateau Cartier

Totally disappointing. When you pull up the building is for sure impressive. The rooms are old and the paint is chipped in the bathroom and other places in the room. The voices carry out of the room every easily. It sounded like there was a party in the corridor but it was coming from a room and we are adjoined with another room and it’s so loud. The TV is not a smart TV so I could not watch Netflix. There is no pool but you can pay $36 to go to the spa pool. And there is NO NON DAIRY milk available in the restaurant and no good plant based options in the restaurant and breakfast was not included. For $400 a night I’d rather save my money and be at the holiday inn. The pillows are good!

My family of four spent two nights mid-week at the start of summer. We booked a room with two queen beds, which was spacious and suitable for two adults and older teenagers. It was clean, but lacked a few conveniences. We immediately noticed there was no nightstand between the two beds, which was inconvenient for the individuals sleeping on that side of the bed. We also didn’t have a guide to hotel amenities, so we had to figure out how to connect to the free wifi and we never learned how to use the Chromcast on the tv, if there was one. It would have helped to have a desk and chair, and the outlets were far from any surfaces to rest a phone or computer. The bathtub was unusually deep, but the water pressure was better than most hotels. The bath towels were a bit scratchy, and probably should be replaced. The room overlooked the thermal spa and golf course. We had breakfast at the Ono restaurant and dinners at Kato. Both were well priced and the food was excellent. My husband and I spent a day at the Koena spa. It was much more relaxed compared to Nordik. The change rooms were clean and the lockers were large. Overall, the spa experience was enjoyable and relaxing. The grounds were clean and it was easy to find lounge chairs. It was mid-week, so not too crowded or loud. I recommend the spa services, like a massage or facial. The aestheticians were wonderful and discreet. Other hotels allow guests to charge meals and drinks to their rooms, but that was not an option here. We paid for our two nights at check-in and we carried our wallets with us at all times, which was not convenient when visiting the thermal spa where drinks and snacks had to be paid on the spot. This is a fine hotel for families, if they don’t expect to use hotel amenities. The thermal spa only accommodates guests 18 and older. The hotel doesn’t have a pool or outdoor area to sit. We didn’t see a children’s menu at the restaurant. Overall, it was a nice stay and my husband and I will return - without children.

I love this hotel! This was my most favourite stay ever. The grounds, lobby and rooms are gorgeous. The staff is the best I've encountered anywhere. When I arrived, I was so tired from a long day of driving and the front desk, I believe manager, was so nice to me in my exhausted, incoherent state. He gave me a room on the 4th floor, stating the rooms are nicer there. The room was HUGE and beautiful. Comfy bed and large bathroom, sitting area, closet with iron and fridge and safe. The satellite tv could be a little finicky, but that was the worst of it, which wasn't bad at all. There was a nice desk, as part of my trip was working. I had two beds in my room and could grab all the pillows off, which I love. Pillows were very comfy and of great quality. There is an elevator, very fast and in perfect working condition. Hallways and lobby are lovely and upscale. Everything kept in perfect repair. Large parking lot, although there seems to be competition for spots and lot was always full. I did park on the golf side once, but guessing that was allowed. Carts are nice too. Wheels work great and don't get stuck or go in weird directions. Pull up to the front lobby though, I made the mistake of trying to bring stuff in from the parking lot and that is much harder, doh! The spa is such a plus. It is right on the floor below the lobby. You will get a discount and get to use the spa all day and night at a discount when staying in the hotel. I've never been to a spa like this before. There are pools of many different warm/hot temperatures and a cold plunge so you get that hot and cold therapy. There is a large indoor pool with spa bubbles and a waterfall. They will give you a robe to come down in, which is so much better than trying to run down to a pool and cover up with a towel. Downstairs from the snack bar, which serves alcohol and also has homemade fudge, there is another one of many saunas and a salt bath with eucalyptus that makes your skin feel so amazing. There are water wands to rinse the salt away. I also did a pedicure during my stay, and the staff at the spa is amazing. The treatment was so relaxing and I was so happy with my pride-coloured painted toes. My esthetician was so good! She was very gentle and gave me the best treatment. This was my first pedi, but now I can say it won't be my last. All of the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. They always say hello and ask if you need anything. I broke my stay up into different hotels, but when I visit again, I will only stay at Chateau Cartier. I have stayed at many, many hotels and this is superior by far! I hope to visit that wonderful spa bath/pool again and enjoy more of the spa treatments in the near future. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to everyone.
