The hotel is fairly well located (beware of the poor nighttime people around the hotel). However, the room, even though it looks new/renovated in the photos, is extremely poorly maintained (leaks, stains, significant wear, flying insects, etc.). The bathroom is not clean.
I definitely do not recommend it!
The price per night is cheap for Montreal, but there are other hotels at the same price that are much better.
Avoid!

When I arrived at the hotel, I was told that there were FIVE reservations in my name, already paid! While I had only one. And the staff was not willing to help me clarify and resolve the problem.
2 employees told me that 5 rooms were booked (and paid for!) in my name by “ Agoda”. I confirm that I did not know Agoda until now, that I did not have an account with them and that I NEVER booked a room through their platform. I opened an account on June 19th to try to access the reservation that the hotel had given me the reference: 867101250. And it was impossible for me to get any information from Agoda. Their customer service is limited to AI support that can do NOTHING if they can’t link an email to a booking number. This proved impossible. They do NOT have a telephone number for customer service. The hotel gave me the number 647-777-4150 but this number is reserved for INSTITUTIONS (hotels) and to access it, you must give the institution number. The employee (apparently new for 2 weeks) did not know this institution number. It would have been the employee’s duty to approach Agoda for an explanation. In fact, the employee was unable to provide me with information as to the DATE on which these reservations were made.
The employee on duty on June 19, 2025, told me that the problems with Agoda were “because you used Priceline.” I confirm that I have NEVER used Priceline. The employee insisted that these multiple bookings were “not the Hotel’s fault.” Please acknowledge that it is NOT MY fault, I the CUSTOMER, the one who pays (often, by the way) to get a room at the Hotel Saint-André and elsewhere too, using Expedia. The staff distance themselves from any responsibility and refuse to give the client any HELP to resolve the situation.
I confirm that I had made ONLY ONE reservation, via Expedited, duly confirmed and paid.
The manager told me that this incident (5 rooms booked and not used, in a context where the hotel was full) could represent potential losses of $2,000. Firstly, the amount is grossly exaggerated, and secondly, it is probably the result of errors on the part of Agoda, for which I am not responsible, having never used their services. This attempt to blame the client for an incident for which he is not responsible is regrettable and shameful. I asked for an apology from them, in writing, giving them a deadline. I never received an answer, either by email or by phone.
I therefore report this unpleasant experience to Expedia and Trip Advisor and reserve the right to seek compensation for the inconvenience, embarrassment and humiliation felt during my interactions with staff, having received no response from them following an email sent to them.

Location 8/10:At the east end of St. Catherine where the homeless and drug addicts hang out. Still, it is fine as you walk to old port ( 18 min) and St. Catherine west. Also, many shops and stores near by for food and necessities.
Hôtel cleanliness:6/10 .The main entrance is clean and the rooms are renovated. However, not fully as there are parts with old carpet from the original building structure ( maybe 1920-30’s) which gave it an eerie feel. Also, while the bathroom is renovated, there is no curtain or glass for the shower so water goes out on the tiles and makes a huge mess. The bedsheets did have some hair on them and the pillows from inside the case had yellow stains.
Rooms 6/10: beds are super creaky. I couldn’t sleep! The pillows were too flat( and dirty from the inside) even though two were supplied
The T.V and Roku were excellent and a lot of great shows were on. There was also a fridge and a/c unit. I advise to turn the a/c on or else the room feels claustrophobic because it is so small.
Overall, if you want a super cheap hotel for a night, max 2, this might be an option for you.
Oh and bring your own water!
