We stayed in this hotel recently for 3 nights and we booked on the hotels website and got what we thought was good deal until we were checking out and discovered that the tax was not included in the price - we stayed in 5 other hotels in Canada and all had the tax included in the price - if you book this hotel on booking.com the tax is included in the price . This is as I would suggest misleading people. We got a deal for $ 590 dollars and ended up paying an additional $ 112 in taxes. When we complained they wouldn’t listen to our side of things. So I’d be very careful about booking this hotel on it’s website - we’ve travelled quite a bit and this is the first time coming across this.

L’Appartement turned out to be a very nice hotel, with more features for a lower price than at Montréal’s big chain hotels. My room was unusually large and had a substantial balcony. It did indeed come with a well-equipped kitchen including a nice refrigerator. The air-conditioning system worked fine. A good breakfast was included in the price. There was a substantial choice. Staff were invariably pleasant, and they let me stay an hour late. They also turned out to be honest, for which I’ll forever be grateful. I’ve gotten in the (perhaps unwise) habit when traveling of carrying a couple of extra ID cards and some cash in a plastic bag that I keep in a sock. I somehow managed to forget to put the bag back in my sock when I was rushing to leave. I discovered this while out walking around after I’d checked out. I went back to the hotel, mentioned the problem to front-desk staff, and was handed a room key. I didn’t find the plastic bag in the room but located the housekeeper. She handed me the bag. I’ve regretted ever since that I didn’t have any Canadian cash with which to reward her. I do have one very minor complaint about l’Appartement. As in many older hotels, there was a very faint whiff of ancient tobacco smoke in my room (probably 802). I dealt with this by keeping the balcony door open. That wouldn’t work so well in midwinter.

We stayed here for a week. I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The room is spacious but dated. The location is good. Breakfast is very basic and the same every day. I'm not happy about the cleaning. They arrived very late. When I said something about this, they indicated that they would come earlier in future. That happened twice. The days after that they arrived very late again. The lady indicated that I had hung up the ticket not to disturb. That is absolutely not true. I had just hung the other side of the card. In the end, 3 times this week there was no cleaning. I wouldn't come here again.
