Royal Versailles Hotel

Located right next to a large electrical distribution station, the hallways are a maze, the rooms are decent but with air conditioning that makes a hell of a racket (so you turn it off... so it gets hot...), the breakfast is frugal: coffee, gross savory croissant, nice warm bread, juice box with natural and artificial flavors, ... Served plated, so don't count on getting seconds... Noisy for this night (perhaps it is not always the case...) Far from being our favorite hotel...

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Auberge Royal Versailles. When we checked in Kat, at the front desk, was very helpful, providing us with the map of downtown Montreal and marking the places we wanted to visit and how to access them. Using the metro subway station across the street was so easy. We were able to arrive in the center of Old Montreal in 30 minutes, leaving our car in the hotel lot for free. No need to struggle with downtown parking! And we used a charging station for our EV close by. The free breakfast was great. We ordered from a menu with several options, unlike most of the hotel breakfasts in the U.S. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We will stay there again when we return to Montreal.

The Hotel Royal Versailles enjoys a convenient location on Sherbrooke Street, with easy access and ample parking. Services nearby are also an advantage (metro, Maxi, SAQ), making the stay simple and functional. The room was comfortable and well appointed to meet basic needs. That said, there are some areas that need improvement. We noticed dust high up in the room, which gives an impression of incomplete cleaning. On the restaurant side, the atmosphere leaves something to be desired with very white lighting, reminiscent more of a cafeteria than a warm place. The meals were rather bland and lacked relief. Another disappointment: in a “bring your wine” restaurant, no ice bucket was offered for a white wine. We still had a cooking container, but not a special seal. In addition, the hotel bar was closed on a Friday, which is surprising for this type of establishment. In short, the hotel meets basic needs with its location and facilities, but there are several details that hinder the overall experience.
