Sandman Hotel Montreal

The hotel is in a perfect location for anyone visiting Montreal with a car. There is plenty free parking right outside the entrance and literally across the road there is a metro station which provides quick and easy access to all of the tourist sites. We arrived early at 14:00 to be told our room was ready but check in is 16:00 so to get early access it would cost an extra $40 which seems ridiculous, all hotels I have stayed in allow you to access a room if it has already been prepared. We did pay rather than wait around for 2 hours and after flying from the UK we were in need of a shower. We were then told that breakfast would cost $16 each and a token must be purchased from the front desk in advance, we mistakenly had thought it was free. We did have breakfast the first morning but were not impressed with either the choice and quality so we used a cafe in the metro station afterwards. The bar/restaurant didn't look very appealing and it wasn't open in the day. Our room was on the 17th floor but we could still hear noise from the highway, however it was better than being on the other side of the hotel where there was some major construction work taking place on the building next door. The bedroom was very clean and it had nice modern furniture, comfy beds and a fridge. The only downside was an old fashioned air conditioning unit which was a bit noisy (we switched it off at night). The bathroom was spacious but could do with some refurbishment - some tiles were cracked and worn, grout was yellow with age and the silicone sealant had come away around the toilet. However it had a very good shower with good pressure. Despite some shortcomings I would definitely stay here again simply due to it's ideal location and convenience.

Perfect hotel for a recharge. The room was so comfortable that it was tempting to stay in, napping the day away. This may be a small thing to some people but the ventilation was barely a purr and kept the air fresh and comfortable. First hotel ever where I woke up without a mild stuffed up head from minor allergies. But don't stay in! Sharing a parking lot with an easy Metro station puts all of Montreal at your doorstep. What a spectacular plan to park your car while you explore every food-filled corner of the city!

The room was very spacious and clean. The location was right next to the Metro and easy to get too.
