Higood Inn - Huangshan

I have never stayed at a more run down, dirty, filthy, disgusting and worn down place. Why this hotel have gotn good reviews I do not understand. It looks NOTHING like the pictures, and we are thinking that the photos and good reviews are fake. Yes, it is that bad. I have travelled a lot, as a backpacker and stayed at some really cheap places, but this was a horrible place. The lobby looks ok as you come in, and after trying to check in for about 30min (the staff was very difficult to communicate with), we took the elevator up to our floor. The hallway did not have any light, we are guessing that's because the carpet was so worn down and dirty that they were trying to hide it. The place stinks of cigarettes. And the room was one big let down. Dirty, wallpaper falling off, and smelly. We went back to the lobby (only place to get internet), and looked for other hotels online. Found another one that we booked and checked out.

This place is nothing like the pictures! We came here expecting a decent room and could not believe how dirty and worn-down everything was. The reception tried to help, but took extremely long to figure out how to read our passports and kept changing the amount we had to pay in deposit. This might have been due to the fact that we used a translator in between us, but it was certainly not easy to get our room. As soon as we stepped out of the elevator we came to a filthy hallway with a completely worn-down rug. There were cracks in the walls everywhere and it smelled of smoke and looked very unviting. The room had huge cracks in the walls, no bathtub as it said it would have on the reservation and it was just so dirty. We spent five minutes in the room and then immediately found another hotel and left. We still had to pair for the room which is fair enough, but if you booked this, save yourself that money and time and just find something else immediately.
