Xidi Travel Lodge

This hotel is very well located as it is just inside the village area, directly across the square from the entrance so easy to find. However this property is now fairly run down, especially the garden areas. The room we had was small with a hard bed with a soft topper. Bathroom was small and the capacity of the water heater was limited. There is a restaurant and a dining room which is in an old hall. The inclusive western bedroom was reasonable. The reception spoke no English.

Had a stunning visit to the ancient town of Xidi. Fabulous stay at the Xidi Travel Lodge of Joseph Chan. Speaks excellent English and a most considerate host; lovely rooms and serves a traditional breakfast. Do also visit the adjacent ancient village of Hongcun - with the most serene Moon Pond. Art students from all over China were at both villages completing their practical paintings - both villages are must-see destinations!!

When I got to the gate of Xidi, I called the hotel and someone came to take me to the hotel. He even wheeled my luggage from the gate to the hotel. After I checked in, he wheeled my luggage all the way to my room. The room was clean and the bathroom was fairly large. I ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was satisfying. The free Chinese style breakfast was nice as well. It is possible to order a western breakfast for a reasonable additional charge. This hotel was a good starting point for exploration of Xidi.
