Beijing Mango Hotel Apartments

We checked into the Mango (no sign naming it and not quite sure why it is called the Mango or most definately the "Holiday") through a sublet agent (I assumed) named Mr. Wong. We did not need to present our passports (not the norm in Beijing) and only got one key per apartment. The apartment I shared with my daughter and two other traveling companions was not very clean but had WiFi; a real plus! The bathroom still had toiletries from a previous owner or rental persons and we had the same towels for 3 days and NO toilet paper refills. The beds were typical Beijing beds. The foyer and elevator were hot and stuffy and the lobby smelled of sulfur (like from a match being lit). The lighting of the rooms was odd, ours had only lamps, 3 and 1 was burned out. We stayed though the last 5 days of June and midway through the 4th day our power went out! Mr. Wong only pre-paid for so many killowatts! He called the power company and added a few more but we lost power again 2 hours before checking out the next day. I guess Americans use too much AC? I took icy showers the last two days because Mr. Wong wasn't interested in paying for more propaine though?!! The neighborhood was fun and very centralized to many great sites and shops in Beijing. The local restaurants were very good as well.
