While the lobby and restaurant look very nice, the rooms themselves are in great need of care and a very good cleaning. The carpeting was disgusting and the bathrooms need a complete remodel - very moldy. A smoky odor is prevalent throughout. Sheets did seem clean, but the towels are ready to be rags...very worn and often with holes. The hotel does not have staff proficient in English. The first night they kept our passports? Elevator service slow. Breakfast offerings including some Western options including fried eggs, toast and coffee in addition to many other Eastern choices. Wifi not consistent. The 4-star rating is as genuine as the Rolexes sold on the street. It does not meet US standards for 4-stars.

We stayed at this hotel, now called Wuhuan Hotel, in January 2015. This hotel is anything but a 4 star hotel. Awful untidy rooms. Non-smoking rooms that reeks of smoke. The first room we got had a broken window, not that we would have stayed in there anyway since it reeked of smoke. The reception staff does not speak more than a few words of English and the breakfast is appallingly poor.

This is now called the Wuhuan Hotel. It is located in the fifth ring road, about 1.2km from the Jinsong station subway terminus of Line 10. From here, it is two stops on the no. 28 bus, but the stand is not in plain sight. So It is better to go to the Yonganli station on Line 1 (red), and change for the no. 28 bus, which is just outside the Silk Market mall entrance, headed in the correct direction. This is eight stops. The Subway costs CNY2 per trip with transfers, and the bus is CNY1 per journey without transfers(September 2012). The hotel is very average. The view from the room is of the modern city, nothing spectacular. There is no decent malls close by, and it is almost 45 minutes to the centre by the transfer methods given above, longer in traffic. The breakfast was disappointing, and even the egg action station only serves fried eggs (bullseye or two sides are your only choices). The chef at the station is rude, and grudgingly gives the egg to you, like you have twisted his arm. Our stay was just three days, and there were often no coffee cups and plates. The western part of the breakfast was extremely limited. The guests wre mostly Chinese. The coffee in the posh lobby bar was a jaw-dropping $10.40. The reception and even the concierge didn't speak English, and I heard several people from our group going crazy trying to explain an extension of the stay. Service left a lot to be desired. We had booked a double room but they pushed the two beds together finally when we explained in sign language. "Sleep", "bed", "together". Not recommended, unless you are getting it really dirt cheap.
