Golden Palace Silver Street

It seems that the rooms have undergone a makeover since I visited. A shame, seeing as I really liked the traditional Chinese decor. The bed was a little hard for a Westerner like me, and the street which the hotel is located in is a bit grubby and smelly, but other than that this hotel is faultless!! Impeccable service, extremely clean and bright, bathroom ok, room mid size, breakfast excellent! There's a little shop right opposite the front door which sells bottled water and other goodies Westerners will recognize. 5 minute walk to Dengshikou metro station, and Wangfujing Cathedral is on the same block. Wangfujing Street, running adjacent to the hotel, is full of amazing shopping! Most of it is easy walking distance to the hotel too. Beijing Department Store, APM mall, and Malls at Oriental Plaza. Plus more familiar ones: Hermes, GAP, Apple Store, Zara, Omega, Burberry etc. And for those who are tired of Chinese cuisine (of which there are many good restaurants nearby) there's McDonald's, Pizza Hut, and most importantly, Starbucks.
