If I could rate this hotel as ‘good’ I would but can’t give it ‘very good’ so it’s graded as average. It was good due to the location next to a subway station and relative proximity to some landmarks. It wasn’t great because: I was woken on my first night at 02.30 due to building work- this went on until 04.30: I called reception to ask what they thought they were playing at and the receptionist didn’t speak English! I had a tour early that day which left at 06.50 and was surprised to see a person asleep in the reception area! I had my tour and complained about the disruption the night before (I was on floor two) and asked to be moved- they granted this but were keen to point out it had nothing to do with them, when a guest at your hotel is woken at 02.30 due to construction work it has a lot to do with you! They moved me to another floor and helped me move but there was a lot of smoking going on in certain rooms on this floor which filtered into my room which I was not happy about especially as it’s supposed to be a non- smoking establishment! Breakfast was very repetitive with the same dishes provided each day, there were a lot of staff in the restaurant but little monitoring of food stations went on with several feral children running around with no discipline. Food was poor. Check in and checkout was smooth. The gym was really useful but was frustrating when I went to use the equipment one night and there was a member of staff stripped down to his vest working out! Cleaning staff were very good and rooms were clean. I wouldn’t stay here again as it as expensive for what it was.
