Currently staying here at the hotel and it’s not too bad though it’s near all the embassies so stores/shopping/convenience store is not very close.
Room:
The building is quite old but clean and probably on the small side for 2 people. I’d say about the 28sqm or smaller.
However it was pretty stuffy coming in and smells strongly of smoking (even though it was a non-smoking floor), so you’ll have to open the windows when you first go in.
The air conditioner doesn’t really work, I’ve had my room turned down to lower than 10 degrees because it was so stuffy and hot but still doesn’t cool the place, so I left the windows open which helped a lot.
There is an international socket here so you can plug pretty much anything without an adapter however I would suggest to bring one anyway.
The tap water isn’t drinkable but they do provide 2x bottles of water a day.
There is the usual soap/lotions but no toothbrushes. So remember to bring your own. The water pressure is okay and there is ample amount of hot water so showering is pretty cruisy! Mine was a bathtub/shower combo so might be difficult to get in and out if you have mobility issues.
Towels and things get changed regularly. There is a safe, umbrella, hairdryer, slippers and robes, mini fridge, tv etc.
The bed is hard for my liking! A bit like a plank for me but after walking everywhere it’s still sleepable and there is 4 different types of pillows to choose from.
Wifi is pretty decent and you can make calls on FaceTime etc pretty well.
Hotel amenities:
There are 3 main restaurants here, the buffet is large ($150 AUD pp)! So many dishes to choose from and lots of local food to try and the seafood is fresh. It’s where the breakfast was too. They had the usual continental and the hot breakfasts so it was good.
The other was a Chinese restaurant (high end) around $50 AUD per dish and a Japanese restaurant and bar which the food was absolutely amazing! $20+ set meal per person and the dishes was exquisite!
Coffee at the hotel was GREAT! Aussies who are coffee snobs like me would be happy with it.
The closest shopping centre is pretty expensive with clothes starting in the $200CNY area which is about $50+ AUD however the quality is pretty high end so if you’re happy to splurge it’s not a bad place to start!
You can also get your international cosmetics and things here too. There was a small supermarket but nothing special to note. Maybe just to get yourself some extra water for your room.
The service is wonderful. People are happy to help.
All in all, a great place to stay!
