Merchantel

First: almost nobody can speak in english in the hotel. Terrible! They even had problem to understand that i was waiting for my luggage from the airport. The breakfast is very good, as always here, quality food. The air condition gives just warm air, so i cannot use, to make the room cooler i have to open the window, but the air quality is very unhealty! It is really a shame of the hotel to make me breath the worst air i have ever had. I even called them to fix it, but they could not. Considerig the quality of the air it would be essential for a hotel to protect its costumers! Thats why i have – primarily – 2 stars.

The hotel is located suitable for anybody who wants to see a center of Beijing. Maybe a little to far for a walk to Tiananmen (and Forbiden City) for some guests but I recommend to try a walk. Rooms are spacious enough, clean. There is a good restaurant with Cantonese cousine. Be prepare to spend some time in the lobby if you want a receipt done in English.

The hotel is 3 stops from Tiananmen Square in a quiet street. The room was spacious, the bathroom a bit old but perfectly functional and not tiny. There was no bar fridge but coffee/tea-making facility and complimentary bottled water. They serve breakfast from 6:30am until 2pm (!), big buffet style although mostly for Chinese taste. Most of their guests seem to be Chinese and the Hotel staff's English was not too confident fluent, except for a few I came across. So it depends what you want from a hotel, I think this is perfectly OK for ca. 700 Yuan per night.
