Had a 4 night stay at the STR Beijing for my family trip. Arrived late evening. When we arrived, there was folks to help with luggage. Check-in took some time but soon enough we got our room keys. Booked 2 rooms. They upgraded one to a suite as a Titanium member benefit. Room was quite spacious. A/C worked great (it was warm in Beijing) and the bed was comfortable. Water pressure was good. Breakfast was a buffet which was lavish compared to what we get in the US. Service was good through out. Did not dine in the hotel (so many choices in Beijing) but we did enjoy the lobby bar. Wife used the spa and enjoyed her treatments, I did not use the gym as had plenty of steps already. Hotel is in a quiet part of Beijing. The metro is about a 10 min walk. Didi is cheap so we used car service for most of our trip. Checkout was quick and all the final folio was correct. We enjoyed our stay. A few negatives I like the traditional aesthetic but wear and tear are starting to show on the furniture. Hotel could use an update. The corridor unlike rest of the hotel was dark and reeked of cigarette smoke. They had an air purifier in the corridor on our second day (guess someone called). Turn down service was a bit uneven. For one of our rooms, they left cookies every night but nothing in our other room?

I had an excellent stay at The St. Regis Beijing in May. The property has a real sense of history, yet it is still well maintained and carries itself with the elegance one hopes for from a classic five-star hotel. What stood out most was the service. I would especially like to recognize Front Office Manager Charles and Duty Manager Kyle, both of whom were sincere, professional, and generous with their time despite clearly busy schedules. Their assistance made the stay much smoother and more comfortable, and it was genuinely appreciated. The service in Garden Court was also excellent. The team there was friendly, polished, and consistently professional, and I was especially grateful to the head chef, who took the time to prepare personalized dishes to accommodate my dietary needs. The business lounge and housekeeping teams were also strong throughout the stay. I stayed in a one-bedroom suite, which was elegant, spacious, and very comfortable. The decor had a warm, classic feel, with soft lighting and traditional furnishings that suited the property well. The marble bathroom, with both a tub and separate shower, felt appropriately luxurious, and the suite also included a powder room, which was a very nice touch. Based on both the room and the public spaces, the hotel still reflects the standards of a true five-star property. Location is another strength. The hotel is well situated in Beijing, in the diplomatic district and still within easy reach of the central business district as well as many of the main sights. If I were to note any negatives, they were fairly minor. There were occasional inconsistencies in communication from the concierge when there was some confusion involving packages, although most of the concierge team was still professional and helpful. The fitness center is also not the newest, and the air conditioning there could be a bit weak at times. Overall, this was an excellent stay with genuinely strong service, and I would gladly recommend The St. Regis Beijing to both business and leisure travelers visiting the city.

As a loyal guest who has stayed at numerous St. Regis properties worldwide, I have always deeply appreciated and been moved by their legendary butler service and high standards. Sadly, my recent stay at The St. Regis Beijing was an absolute nightmare and easily the worst representation of the brand I have ever experienced. If major changes are not made, this property will seriously tarnish the St. Regis reputation. 🚫 Amex Benefits Denied & Zero Birthday Recognition I booked my stay through American Express (Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts), which guarantees specific benefits. However, the front desk outright refused to honor the 12:00 PM early check-in and the complimentary room upgrade. To make matters worse, I had explicitly noted in my reservation that my friend and I were celebrating a birthday. The hotel completely ignored this—not a single greeting, card, or gesture was offered. 👥 Discriminatory Service and Toxic Staff Behavior The service here is deeply flawed and unprofessional: Selective Hospitality: The Concierge supervisor at the front door (wearing a black suit) is completely two-faced. He was incredibly warm and enthusiastic toward English-speaking Western guests, but chose to completely ignore Asian guests like myself. Cold and Indifferent Staff: The overall staff attitude was incredibly cold, and the famous St. Regis butler service was entirely nonexistent throughout my stay. Manipulative Review-Gouging: The only time a staff member showed any warmth was purely transactional. A staff member eagerly approached me solely to ask for a 5-star review—she went so far as to take my phone out of my hands to write a glowing review for herself. It was inappropriate and deeply uncomfortable. 🏚️ Dilapidated Facilities and Safety Hazards The property feels like it hasn't been renovated since the last century. Cleanliness Issues: The bathroom was deeply unhygienic, with visible mold covering the bathtub. Maintenance Failures: The light switches in the room did not work at all. Safety Hazard: The carpets were uneven and buckled, which caused me to trip and almost fall. 温泉 Public Wellness Center (Not Private) Do not be fooled by the "hotel hot spring." The property sells access to the general public rather than keeping it exclusive for hotel guests. Because it is overcrowded with outside visitors, the hygiene and cleanliness of the hot spring area are highly questionable. 📉 Final Verdict At this price point, you have far better luxury options in Beijing. The St. Regis Beijing fails on service, luxury, cleanliness, and basic hospitality. Save your money and your Amex benefits, and book elsewhere.
