Dongsi Super 8

-8°C and the room is freezing cold, technician comes shrugs his shoulders does nothing. Staff refuse to change the room as ‘there aren’t any available‘ Booked through ctrip (Trip.com) who gave us credit for 80% of the room price. Ctrip contacted the hotel and as if by magic another room became available. A bigger cleaner room, but with a very strong fetid smell of mould and decay. However, I’d rather cope with a funky smell than freeze to death. Reception staff do everything to avoid eye contact with foreigners and are eager to serve locals before *any* foreigners. A truly awful experience.

Location is probably the only good thing about this hotel. Run-down building, dirty room with terrible smell, broken door, very poor soundproof. The price is not cheap by Chinese standard, better room can be rented with the same price.

We stayed here 3 nights. It is in a great location, although difficult to find at first. The facilities were clean and tidy. Staff don't speak English and did try to get more money out of us for no reason, but we told them we had already paid and they gave up.
