The location was great, close to shopping area and near Tiananmen Square. The hotel was "ok", more like a nice hostel. Beds were hard, but we were so tired each night, it did not matter. It is a good hotel and a great value. I would stay there again.

I really struggled in this review. On one side the hotel is in an awesome location in a historic hutong neighborhood. Walking distance to Tiananmen Square, a subway, grocery store, Alice’s Tea Shop. Really in the heart of a westerner’s view of what China is. I would not change the experience we had staying here. On the other hand, I’m sure we stayed in the higher end rooms on the 4th floor not in the lower youth hostel type rooms. The rooms have issues with working amenities, all the pluming pieces in place, and a mattress a little better than a comforter covered box spring foundation. With that being said I wouldn’t stay here for a romantic weekend but I would stay here again to experience the people, culture, and hutong living culture in Beijing. That was the amazing part of our stay here.

It looks like Ok at lounge, but room is quite bad. Shower cannot use and bathroom is dirty. Noted that almost hotel in China require deposit and mostly not speak English. Location is Ok. You can walk to Qianmen to get Metro or taxi, bus...
