Foreign Experts Building Beijing

I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel while attending a conference in Beijing. It is a business hotel primarily for large groups and conference attendees, given it's relative proximity to some of the new convention facilities, Olympics venues, etc. The hotel itself is quite spic and span, the staff did a very good job cleaning it despite the number of people always at the lobby for pick ups / drop offs from large buses (preferred mode of shuttling large groups of people). The room was a suite with a separate living area, small kitchenette, washer/dryer, bathroom, and bedroom. Though it was non-smoking, the room furniture and carpeting reeked of smoke. Thank goodness for the working air-conditioning that made it bearable. The view overlooked a park which was fun to go take a walk in and see young and old do their daily morning / evening exercise and Taiji routines. My meals were included and served buffet style in the formal banquet room. Mostly traditional Chinese food with very helpful and attentive staff. Overall, the stay was alright and a unique experience given the needs of the conference. Very few were able to speak fluent English so be prepared to use a translation app to communicate.

I was 3 nigth in the hotel. The location is terrible. In the middle of highway junctions. Nothing to see or buy for snacks or dinner. Only in the hotel that is very limited You can take a taxy yo the center.... but due to the traffic will be "cost" you about one hour. The room are more than simple. Everything is old and looks dirty. The staff trying to do the best.... but is more than limited. No english... only chinesse or pantomime. And for the end.... they are biilding in the roof.... SO THE NOICE IS TERRIBLE. TRY TO FIND A BETTER PLACE in the center Please look the "Suita"

This hotel is reasonably priced and the quality of rooms and service reflects this. I had a suite which was a good size and quite well appointed. Although two TVs, one in the lounge area and one in the bedroom these had very poor reception and no English channels I could find. The room was well cleaned but clearly had the residual smoke smell in the carpets and blinds. Possibly a hangover from when smoking in the rooms was allowed. Although I wonder how strictly this is enforced. The restaurant is OK if you want Chinese food. And communicating in English when ordering can be a real problem. Don't try ordering an omelette for breakfast. Also, there is very little shopping or restaurants close by.
