Hi Inn Liangpin Beijing Dongsi Metro Station

We booked this hotel around 6 months in advance and got the hot deal. We arrived at around 21.30 and the temperature is -12C. we looked for the hotel and couldnt find it thought we were already at no. 33 South Dongsi Street. we asked the people, they said it was the right address but the hotel was in under renovation and being rented to another hotel. we saw the new sign Hi Inn. We decided to stay in a hotel near Dongsi station. We got the refund though when we reported to the booking website.

Stayed in Yilan Hotel for 4 nights in triple room with my family. Overall experience was disappointing. Reception staff cannot speak English. Our room was quite old and with a bad smell of smoke inside, window could not be closed easily. All but one electric sockets in the room were broken and not working. A lamp switch was broken as weel, so the small lamp near the bed was always lit up unless we removed the bulb for the night. The room rate included breakfast, however the first morning we discovered the breakfast is actually served in a small restaurant some hundred meters away from the hotel. Breakfast was only chinese and extremely simple, just some rice congee (zhou) and soy milk. When ordering breakfast, to my surprise, I was even asked to pay one extra yuan per person. Although this is a small fee, the room I booked already included breakfast so I don't understand why they ask to pay an additional fee. After this I came back to the hotel and asked for a refund for the unused breakfasts. There are few shops and bakery in the hotel vicinity where is much better to have breakfast. The only main good point of this hotel is the location, not far from the Forbidden Palace and conveniently located near Dongsi station (subway lines 5 and 6).

Pro : The staffs were very helpful & friendly, not rude as some reviews said. Maybe it's because we spoke in their language & it's the dialect that made them seemed to be rude. The location was also good as it was near some small shopping stores & Wangfujing Street (elite tourist shopping area) was within walking distance. The twin bed were big enough to sleep on comfortably. The blankets were quite heavy & thick enough to make our sleep well. The room had a flat screen with various of local channels. Cons : The room was in dark-coloured carpet. Looked & felt dirty. We stayed 5 nights, they didn't change the small towels, only changed the big ones.
