New Grand Dynasty Hotel Beijing

As someone from the Chicago area, the hotel reminded me of the Drake. It's a historic building with old-school amenities. The beds were comfortable, the food was good and the staff was very helpful. The staff was very helpful and pleasant despite a general lack of English and my lack of Chinese. The neighborhood is even more friendly to travelers than the hotel, being in the embassy district, and we ate out and visited the local mall frequently without any problem. The only downside was an issue with smells - the smoking bans are relatively recent in the history of a place like this, and there's a residual smoke smell that might bother those with sensitive noses - it took us a moment to get used to it. That's why I compare it to places like the Drake and other hotels where the history has left a little mark on its current service for those who care...

I like this hotel. Stuff was friendly. Rooms are clean, fresh, cosy. Very cute design. In my room was cabin in shower, I like it so much. They are cleaning rooms daily. I hadn't chanse to taste their breakfast, bcz I book without breakfast. Generally I enjoy my stay at this hotel. I hope to stay again at same hotel.

Having stayed in my own apartment and rented apartments in Beijing it was necessary to start using hotels because of the shorter time periods that I stay in Beijing. Right now I stay in the New Grand Dynasty hotel and it definitely is a clean, nice centrally located hotel. Staff is friendly (English very limited) great (Chinese) breakfast but they even have coffee! It is a typical Chinese hotel but comfortable, good beds and near the Chaoyang park. I will come back next time. Good value for money.
