Tiananmen Best Year Courtyard Hotel

Great location; walking distance to the forbidden city. Hostess is unbelievable nice; arranged a taxi to the Chinese wall, pick-up an dropp to AirPort. oohh and really gaat in her answers.. Room was cosy, clean and really nice with Chinese features. The courtyard is really nice, but more for the summer;-)

Dirt in the bedroom, grime around the sink and toilet and huge cockroaches. What is there not to love? Couple with the men smoking in the communal courtyard next to the drying laundry and you have the perfect spot. It needs a thorough clean in every way before having the duct tape removed from the draws. If the alley leading to it didn't smell of vomit it might be ok... Oh yeah, the location is ok... But so many better locations in Beijing!

We picked this place based on its close proximity to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Sq and surroundings. The lodging is basic and the rooms are set around a covered courtyard, with a large table and seating in the middle. The room we had was clean, but in need of modernisation with both the room and furnishings. As we were out all day, it was just a place to head back to sleep, but if the intention is to stay in the room to chill, then this is not the place to be. The reception staff were courteous, pleasant and were very helpful. Like all things in Beijing, everything is hidden in a maze of streets, so is best to get the taxi driver to speak to the reception staff, if coming by taxi. It is walkable, with Tiananmen Sq East metro about 10 mins walk away. Pro - Towels provided Free Wifi in rooms 24hr reception Friendly staff Centrally located Forbidden City entrance is about 20 mins walk in one direction and Tiananmen Sq about 15 mins walk in the other Experience staying in a quadrangle property (Siheyuan), typically seen in old kungfu movies. Food and drink outside on the main street, but everything starts to close at around 6 pm Cons - Needs modernisation
