Excemon Beijing Hongxiang Hotel

Stayed at this hotel as was speaking at a conference that was held here. I have rated this on the basis that the hotel is only 350RMB. So expectations were not too high. The hotel is located about a 40 minute taxi journey from Tienanmen Square.Nearest subway is Jiandemen about 10 mins walk. It's located in suburban part of town, which is not particularly attractive. There are many restaurants within a few minutes walk, especially around Jiandemen Subway station. The staff speak little English, but are helpful. ATM in reception which takes VISA / MasterCard,as does the hotel. Rooms are decent size and functional but tired and a little shabby. Free internet at a slowish but acceptable speed. Breakfast, for a Westerner, was just ok - but too many dishes which felt like the evening before's buffet. Buffet lunch was ok, reasonable choice but functional.

The staff was unfriendly. They do not help in taxi booking. Room needs refurbishment. The greatest joke of all is there is no ironing facilities in such a big hotel. All iron were apparently out of order when i requested one.
