King’s Joy Hotel

I stayed in this hotel for 7 nights. At least every two days, there will be room service. There is also a room to place your luggage at the lobby just in case you are not going back early or you reached too early.

This hotel leaves a lot to be desired the rooms are dirty especially the bathroom. There is a very strong smell in the rooms and halls that is not pleasant. The one positive is the location it is close to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and shopping areas. Disappointing that respected, well known tour companies are using this as a starting point hotel. It doesn't give a very good first impression of the quality of the tour experience to come. That was the only reason I stayed and would not recommend anyone stay here by choice.

I stayed at this hotel for one night at the end of a tour and thankfully I was only planned to be there for one night. While the location is excellent - brilliant for access to Tiananmen Square and food and shopping......the cleanliness was less than desirable. Mould in bathroom, dust covering furniture, clear lines around edges of floor where the mopping had obviously stopped for a long time. The bed was hard (as is to be expected in China) however, it was the springs that could be felt that made it so uncomfortable to sleep on. Staff English was limited but I found them to be pleasant and helpful during my limited stay. Luckily I was on the 2nd flor so the elevator went to my floor - 6th floor guests were not so lucky. No soundproofing between rooms and corridors meant it was loud in the room when people were talking there or coming and going.
