This is marketed as a 4-star, but it isn't. One perhaps. It is one of the smokiest hotels it has been my misfortune to visit in China recently. Notionally, smoking is outlawed in indoor public places in China, but no one in this hotel had heard of that rule. Smoking in the lobby, the lift, the restaurants.
The property is also right next to a railway line, with (I imagine) a sign right under my window instructing train drivers to "WHISTLE HERE" - they all did anyway. That, combined with windows that don't shut properly, made for disturbed sleep.
Some beds are softer than others. I did ask to move room - the 10th floor is supposed to be non-smoking and it cost a bit more. It was marginally more comfortable, but if you don't like sleeping on slabs of slate, take your own mattress cover. Also watch out for cockroaches - I found a large, mercifully dead, one on the floor. So much for this being a 4-star property.
Breakfast was revolting. Other travellers have commented on this and there is no more to say. As for the pseudo-massage facility in the basement that someone noted, I couldn't find it. The B1 floor is currently under decoration, so perhaps that's why. B2 is a raucous nightclub - probably best avoided, esp if you are with kids. B3 is the car park - free for guests and visitors - get a coupon from the front desk.

Jia Yu Emperor hotel is very nice local branded hotel . I stayed in many hotels in Chongqing and this local brand named hotel is one of the most best - sure for its price level . Taxis are wide availibale there and the staff is also English quite well trained . Mostly are guest local - chinese . The food - especialy buffet dinner and breakfast is quite good and tasty . Rooms are very nice decorated and very comfortable .

My husband and I stayed in the Jia Yu Emperor for four nights because of his business meeting. The location is not convenient to any tourist attractions. The closest shopping is a ten min. taxi ride away. A taxi to downtown can take 40 minutes and will cost RMB 30 from a regular taxi or RMB 100 from the hotel van. Beware of taxi rip offs. This is a big problem in this city. Also all commerical taxis have been converted to natural gas. The tank takes up almost all of the trunk. Bad news if you have a lot of luggage.
TheWestern Restaurant food and beverage outlet cater oddly for Chinese guests only. The buffet has a wide variety of items (snake, turtle, fish with bones etc.) but it is almost all extremely oily and too spicy for Western tastes.
The staff do not speak any English except the telephone operator and the front office manager.
The rooms are adequate with rockhard beds. We requested a mattress pad to soften the bed and they gave us two feather quilts. It helped. There is no coffeeor minibar items although Chinese tea is provided free of charge. We ended up going to a Carrefour supermarket to be emergency provisions.
The TV stations in English only worked some of the time.
There is a WHOREHOUSE in the hotel basement. We were called every night at 10:30pm to see if we wanted a girl sent to our room. See attached picture from the "spa"
Check out took 45 minutes. We were not disputing any items, but they could not manage to simply add up the charges.
A nightmare experience.
The Howard Johnson, InterContinental, JW Marriott, Sofitel are all excellent hotels with better service and location.
