Marine Garden Hotel Xiamen

I was at this hotel just to take launch. The restaurant was clean and neat with variety of Chinese and continental dishes, the dishes are nice and tasty. don't miss it. it is one of the best in the Gulangyu Island. I was just there to eat I don't know anything about the rooms.

This is rated a 4-star hotel on Gulangyu Island which is off the coast of Xiamen. About a 20 min ferry ride from the city. The hotel was very large but the maintenance of the hotel was poor. Rooms were old and badly needing update. The breakfast buffet offered large assortment of western and asian food choices but the quality was below average. The dinner restaurant food quality was below average as well. The island is a tourist area but not worth staying on the island as lodging is not very good. Better choices of hotel in Xiamen. Room temperature was very hot and you could not control in the room but you could at least open the windows. Wi-fi was free.

This is such a common example of a four star Chinese hotel. They had the money to build it, but they never spent the money to maintain it. The carpets in the hallway smell like a mixture of a wet dog, mildew, and dog urine. The air-conditioners in the room turn on, but I did not find that it ever change the temperature. I believe all of those air filter should be cleaned or REPLACED. 2 people in my group of 5 came home last night with a low fever. Breakfast was quite all right beautiful location. I was totally shocked to find out when I ask at the front desk that they do not have maps of this tourist attraction island for their hotel guests.
