Super 8 Shi Dai Ya Ju

Located 10 mins drive from the Train station although not near the main tourist attraction, it is a good location for traveling around Xiamen. Taxi will be hard to get during the peak hour and you have to go to the main road to get it. Around the hotel, there are plenty of choice for meals and coffee. Staff are generally nice but i was caught by surprise when one of the main receptionist informed me that free bottle drinks are only available on the first day of check in when i have it almost daily. Room is spacious and whle there, it was in a midst of renovation, work will starts at around 830 am and last till 6pm. Noise insulation wise, it is quite bad as i am able to listen to the TV set next door when lying down on the bed. The basic stuff are sufficient but not as good as what you can find else where. Wireless internet is fine. Breakfast wise, it is very basic chinese food and try to be early as there are no refill for late comers.

For a non-Chinese run hotel in China, Super 8 always is one of my first choices. It's clean and convenient without an over the top price. We asked for a quiet room and they gave us a room on the top floor without many other guests, which we really appreciated. This hotel is situated in the heart of city centre but away from entertainment district, no karaoke bars or night clubs around, only small local shops and restaurant. 300RMBs for a king sized bed, very good value.
