I've stayed several times over the last ten years but have never reviewed before. Always a great stay with helpful staff and very large rooms. The River View rooms are excellent as is the view from the main bar downstairs which looks directly onto the river. The Shamian Island area is close nearby to the wet fish market and the dried fish market, which can be interesting for tourists to wander through. Also, the Shamian area is quite historic with many old European colonial style buildings from the days of the traders in the 1880's. Several good places to eat at night within a 10-minute walk of the hotel. Plan about 35 minutes by taxi if you are going to the Guangzhou South Railway Station for the high-speed train back to Hong Kong.
