Jinjiang Inn-Xiping Subway Nancheng District Dongguan

Unless you have business in the area, I don't see any reason why you may want to stay here. I chose this location, mistakenly believing it was central to the brewpubs I wanted to visit in Dongguan. Having incorrectly mapped one of them, the hotel wasn't. There also aren't any tourist attractions near this hotel that would warrant considering a stay here. For beer travellers, you should either consider finding accommodations in Batou, near Cheer Bar and Treehouse, or Dongcheng near Liberty Brewing. I booked a Standard B room at the Jinjiang Inn Dongguan Nancheng Xiping via Agoda without breakfast included. There was a bakery just around the corner on Hongwei Road, so I could pick up some pastries in the morning to have with the coffee I made in my room that I had brought with me. On the other side of Hongwei Road, were a number of cheap eateries to get noodles, dumplings, steamed buns, and other such inexpensive meals. Along Hongwei Road, between Xiping 2nd Road and Changtai Road, you'll find many restaurants, cafes, and bars in shopping centres and residential developments, ranging in price from fast food to upscale. Checking into the hotel was straightforward. I simply told the staff I wanted to check in in Chinese, then gave them my passport and Agoda hotel voucher. I was given a keycard for a room on the third floor. The password for the free wifi is provided in the mini keycard folder. To get to the room, you had to swipe the card in the elevator, then press the button for the floor number. The room was standard relative to Jinjiang Inns of this grade. It was spacious enough for my needs, although the layout with the desk & chair and king-size bed would make luggage handling and storage a little awkward if you had larger suitcases, likely requiring you to open your bag on the bed. The room was clean, the plumbing and air conditioner worked properly, and the bedding and linens were changed daily. My only issues with this hotel are that the shower curtain has no weight on the bottom, so when you shower, the curtain billows inward against you. If you want to make tea or coffee with the electric kettle, there are only paper cups. Slightly better hotels will give you reusable mugs or cups. The lid on the kettle was broken, so I had to take some care when pouring the water into my coffee filter. There is also no minibar in this room. Therefore, if you want to chill any beer you may have acquired – be it bottled, canned, or in a growler – you will have to come up with a solution. I asked the front desk staff about this, and they allowed me to chill a can of beer in one of the refrigerators in the lobby. They attached a luggage claim tag to the can and gave me the stub to facilitate fetching my beer. If you don't care about what kind of beer you drink, you can either buy chilled macro lager from the hotel or next door at the 7-Eleven.
