Metropolitan Hotel

Stay - January 2020, Floor 13 (Room 1328). 7 nights This is a pretty average hotel - Please do not consider it 4 star in any sense. The bedsheets are clean, the shower pumps hot water and the laundry is quick and the internet doesn't drop out - Those are the positives I have found of staying here The place is full of faded glory - The rooms are sufficiently sized but tatty around the edges, and not that clean. The buffet breakfast is very limited, and is exactly the same everyday (Which can be a little wearing day after day) The swimming pool was empty and desolate, and the lights aren't even turned on on the gym floor, I had to find my way with a phone torch. All the cardio equipment is broken, there's no water supply or towels, the place is filthy. Saunas aren't working, even no toilet paper in the mens on the floor On the same floor is the dusty shell of a Thai restaurant If you get lucky when in your bathroom you can get stale smoke pulled through the air circulation system Through the paper thin windows I was woken by a cockerel/rooster every morning from the slums next to it The staff are friendly, but it's not a great place - I'd avoid.

This in one of the better Chinese hotels of international standard and we fully recommend it to anyone who may not want to stay in the more expensive international brand hotels. Our room was comfortable and had all the amenities for any guest used to an international hotel. A real classy hotel. However, our room was located in another building right next door, and we had to wheel our suitcases from reception to the next building. We opted for a dim sum breakfast in a private room, since we are a large group.

The room was large and clean. The restaurants served a good western breakfast which was included with the room daily. The room was around $50 US per night. Located in a convenient area close to many tool shops if you are overseas for tool and die.
