Guangzhou Ruihu Hotel

Firstly what is good about this hotel- the reception staff are friendly and although do not speak English will help once communication made through Google translate. Also a recent renovation has given the hotel an attractive appearance on the inside. On the negative side- my colleague received many bites from some bugs in his room. I was lucky I had no bugs a I think they were kept away by the eye watering smell of sewage that would suddenly appear in my room. The room had cigarette burns on the wall paper. Tea cups not washed. The hotel says it has laundry but please note that it is not a laundry service but a do it yourself machine. The breakfast buffet is basic but the bread rolls were stale and for some reason they have no knives, even when I asked through google translate I was told no knives, each day everyone had to spread the jam with the spoon. This is a basic bed and breakfast establishment and is not for international business travel.

Attending the Canton Fair this week and we booked this hotel. Not expecting much but i was pleasantly surprised when i checked in. The front desk is very helpful and accomodating. The rooms are clean. The sheets and towels are fresh. Very good accomidation for business travellers. Thank you to all the staff!!!!

The hotel is nice affordable, but although it is recent refurbished with good instalations and services, it is located in a "horrible" street, very dirty, bad smelling and poorly educated people in the street. I've been to China several times and this is the worst place I ever been.
