Master

This hotel in Guangzhou offers a comfortable stay at a cheap rate as compared to few other options near-by. For most of the visitors to China, local commuting is done by taxis so this hotel is a suitable option. The rooms are urban, breakfast is average but this hotel wins on the Location.

Like most Hotels in China, the Master is in need of some minor repares. Our room needed a paint. the pictures on the web site are a bit miss leading, and you would think for a 5 year old hotel it would/should be in better nick, having said that the reception is clean and functional, some english is spoken by both front desk and the restaurants. There are toiletries in the room. We enjoyed staying here, a few points to note for European travellers... the hotel is next door to a military facility, there is a very decoartive chinese gate post there, DON'T TAKE PHOTO's!!! we nearly got arrested for it!! The Hotel is on a major road and can be hard to get to for Taxi We had a few drinks in the down stairs restaurant, they have a good Cabernet - Great Wall Cab we had the 06!! the food looked great, it was noted for its food quality (fresh fish tanks and all) but we never ate there, the breakfasts were fantastic and all needs are catered for.

Stay in Master Hotel for 3 nights. Good location in Tian He District - about 10 minutes -travel to Teem Mall - the largest shopping mall in Guangzhou. Need to use taxis to travel as there is no metro stations around the hotel. Travelling to Baiyun International Airport is approx 40 minutes by car. There is a 24 hour convenience store next to the hotel. Rooms are clean and modern. It is a new hotel - just opened in about 9 months. Quite empty during weekdays but crowded during weekends with chinese tourists. Set breakfast is ok during weekdays but for weekends, the hotel offers buffet breakfast - chinese food - porridge, fried noodles etc - selections are limited and it is quite tasteless. Front desk provides excellent service - offering assistance in getting taxis and offering advise on travelling to the city - tourist spots, shopping areas etc. One shortfall - the hotel will shut off the lights on the walkway to the rooms if the rooms are not fully occupied and thus, it is quite dark venturing yourself to your rooms.
