The location is perfect for flights from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport location in Terminal 2 there is a complimentary bus from T3 that serves both Novotel and Pullman. The drivers are so kind and help with baggage. The receptionist is very helpful with baggage storage and check-in soo kind. And there is amazing restaurant to choose i chose Japanese which was super the food was great and cocktails too. A really enjoyed stay they also provided free water for us. As British cannot drunk tap water in China.

Tax free shopping is relatively new for China (June 2026), so let me share our experience getting our tax refund at the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.. First, you have to buy from shops that display “Duty Free Shopping” logo. Look in higher end shopping malls. Even within the same higher end shopping mall, not all stores participate in Duty Free Shopping. Be sure to bring your passport and the receipt must be within 90-days of your departure from China. The minimum amount from the same store, on the same receipt, must total at least 200 CNY to qualify. For electronics, the items will likely be opened to be registered and whatnot. My DJI Osmo Pocket 4 was opened, tested and connected to my DJI app. However, the store clerk placed the Pocket 4 back in the original box, taped it shut for tax purposes and cautioned that the box cannot be opened until after the tax refund has been processed. We completed luggage checkin 3 hours before departure. Because we plan to hand carry our duty free merch, we proceeded to immigration. *** Right after immigration (passport got stamped and we walked through the two “doors”), immediately look to the right side for the customs counter where your items will be inspected (our custom agent just put it aside) and your duty free paperwork (from the duty free stores) gets stamped. No stamp = no refund. If you are unsure, ask the immigration folks where to get tax refund stamp. Keep asking with each step through immigration. *** Side note: if your duty free items need to be in your checkin luggage, be sure to first stop at a tiny office located at the end of section H of departure hall. This tiny office is on the left side of “Excessive size luggage” conveyor belts. Take your duty free paperwork plus the items and the customs official will inspect and give you another form indicating they have verified your merch. Pack your items, check in your luggage and proceed to immigration. Make sure you still have all the duty free paperwork. See *** above. So now you have passed all immigration and your duty free paperwork has the official customs stamp. Walk past all the duty free shops and turn right at the corridor. On your right hand side, look for a blue sign “Duty Free Tax Refund”. When we arrived around 11:05am, there was a sign “be right back” with a cellphone number. 2 travelers had already been standing and waiting for a few minutes. They were very unhappy. Apparently the refund agent had gone to lunch and will be “right back”. Hubby called the same number and was told she needed “10 more minutes” to finish her lunch. The sign clearly shows this refund window is opened 24 hrs/day. By now 4-5 other travelers have joined the line and everyone was perplexed what’s going on. I flagged an airport staff to inquire about this closed refund window. At first he told us to just wait, but then I pointed to the “Open 24 hrs/day” sign and asked, “Does this mean anything?” More calls were made. Around 11:25am, the tax refund staff returned from lunch. Walking off the job like this is totally unacceptable. I hope this is a one-off incident and not a daily thing at the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. FYI, while the duty free paperwork shows 11% tax refund, you will only receive 9% refund (to Alipay/Wechat) due to process fee. This process fee is common in Europe as well. The 2 travelers ahead of us wanted refunds to their VISA card and I overheard there would be an additional 2% surcharge. Our refund showed up within seconds in our WeChat account.

Excellent location in the center of the guangzhou baiyun airport . It takes 5 minutes to terminal 2 by whuttle bus Therefore can have good sleep before next day flight. That is very good to stay here . I will be back by next time
