Weldon

This is supposed to be a 5-star hotel, but really, felt like an ordinary country hotel with probabaly 3-4 stars. There were not many guests when I checked-in to this hotel. Bar & Lounge was closed for the whole time and there was nobody at the lounge. The room I stayed was over 700 RMB and the room was just big with a bath tub and walk-in closet. Nice, but dark and rather gives a sad impression. TV system was old and there was no English programs. You really don't need this tyoe of hotel when you are on business trip. There was no restaurant, nothing aroung this area.. basically no action at all. The hotel was just expensive, sad and stale, deserted & forgotten hotel in a quiet country side... I really don't know how its maintainning its business here.

Since I was visiting a nearby company, this was a good location. Not sure if you would select this hotel (now called Weldon) if you didn't have some other reason to be in the area. Breakfast was okay - worst coffee I have ever had however. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Had lunch here with the hosts from the company I was visiting. It was pretty good - but I am not a huge fan of Chinese food - so in many ways you can take that as a great review. I do plan on staying here when I make future visits.

Impressive hotel, but staff is not very accomodating, not at reception, nor at the restaurants. Ambition in design and interior, well equipped and comfortable, large rooms (with sometimes very slow WLAN) clearly meets 5* expectations. However, it is the people that could give the place a warm atmosphere. That´s where the place fails. No lunch/dining options close to the hotel. Restaurants buffet resp. menu offers a reasonable choice.But you should keep your expectations moderate. Breakfast is pretty good though.
