Chateau StarRiver Guangzhou Peninsula

The staff are nice especially 鄭玉婷. When I checked in, she saw my injured feet.She served my family and me well and heartily. The hotel rooms are cosy and look as on hotel photos. My family members and I slept well and soundly. The food is OK. My children like salmon and the breakfast buffet offers yummy smoked salmon sushi. It also has Japanese appetizers, salad, pizza, bread, hot dishes, fried food, congee and noodles boiled according to your need. The desserts are tasty. The hotel also offers shuttle bus to and from Chime Long but you have to beware of the schedule. I also took the shuttle bus to Chime Long and then took Chime Long shuttle bus to an underground train station. For the rest of the scenic spot, you may need to take a taxi. There are shops nearby. It's convenient. The promenade nearby is picturesque. It is breathtaking to stroll around.

Living only 50km away in another city I have stayed at the Sister Hotel, The Chateau Star River m,any times and loved it. Its comfortable, elegant and luxurious. Chateau Star River Haiyi Peninsula tries to live up to the same standard but fails by comparison. The room was nice enough apart from being a large double room but only having 1 chair. BUT its outside the room everything falls down. After booking on Expedia the GPS in directions within the Expedia App took me no where near the hotel (not sure whose fault that would be, hotel supplying wrong directions or Expedia App not made correctly. I have had an issue with this before) Ariving at the hotel and parking my car I found i had to walk through the underground carpark into a hotel door, down a 50M corridor around a corner and down another 50 m corridor and then as my heart rate was starting to rise, I had to walk right through the middle of the main restaurant. At the other side into a life and up to the lobby. Check in was fine, I speak Chinese so there is no problem there. The swimming pool is another issue, you must leave the hotel via a side door using your card key to exit, walk across an outside the hotel main street court year and then into the health club, show your room card and then walk down three flight of stairs to the changing area. You cannot just leave the hotel and sit by the pool. Its as if you are visiting a public swimming baths. No ordering drinks from the bar here, I tried the buffet on night, the price was fine but the food was not 5 star in any way. The best thing for me at on this stay was the dessert chefs cafe. I have a sweet tooth and the guys knows his stuff. really nice desserts. I stayed 2 nights and as i have to go to Guangzhou for business each month I can honestly say, I will be back at the sister hotel next time and never will I step through these doors again.

Deluxe king room, spacious, excellent bed, good service. Quite loud noise from next room during stay, room sound proof can be improved. Hot water not available in the early morning. It is OK to stay..
