My husband and I booked this hotel to visit my dad, who lives about a block away. The hotel is nice, compared to some of the other local hotels in the area. It is older, but functionally, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were quiet. Most of the staff do not speak English, but I saw a handful of international travelers, so I'm assuming they were able to manage through the language barrier.
Like most hotels in ShenZhen, they were happy to show us the room before we actually made a booking. My biggest concern was making sure our room was non-smoking, and didn't smell like it used to be a smoking room.
After inspecting both the king bed and 2-bed options, my husband and I booked the two bed option. The king bed was actually two small beds pushed together, not an actual king bed. All of the rooms on the 8th floor were non smoking. The lobby, elevator, and hallways smelled like lingering cigarette smoke, but our room was smoke free!
The shower was fantastic- hot water heated up instantly and there was a very strong water pressure. Generally speaking the room was spacious and had plenty of space to open both of our suitcases.
Breakfast was included and was pretty good. It was buffet style with a variety of Chinese dishes, noodles and congee. There were a couple of western options (hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs.) The restaurant was packed in the morning so it was hard to find a seat, but we were able to manage okay.
Overall the hotel feels a bit like Las Vegas with heavy "Vienna" decor. It was borderline kitchy with ornate furniture, and faux oil paintings lining the hallways.
Pros
Affordable room (~$75 USD/night)
Comfortable beds
Good AC (it was super humid outside)
Good location (walkable to Halo for food, Walmart, Carrefour, KFC, McD's, and a handful of malls)
Cons
1. No (limited?) English
2. No taxi service- The hotel does not call taxis. You have to walk down to the street to hail a cab, which can be a little annoying if you have luggage and/or it is raining
3. Communal areas used to be "smoking" and there is a lingering cigarette smell
4. Free WiFi, but you have to register for a free account. We never figured it out, and were too lazy to ask. We just used a WiFi pack we had rented separately.
I would stay here again, with the heavy caveat that I had a room on the 8th floor to avoid the smoky smell throughout the rest of the hotel.
