City Inn (Shenzhen Bao'an Chuangye Road)

We were promised western breakfast, a bottle of water each day and wifi, a double bed and a parking spot, and no kidding: Nothing of that was there. Totally dirty-looking strange breakfast, no wifi, no parking spot and no double beds, we had to push our beds together. The walls looked mildewed and were so thin, we could hear every word from our neighbours. And of course no one could even understand English. The whole hotel seemed totally run-down and every picture in the internet looks nothing like in real life. In the end it even got WORSE!!!: Because they were tiny red wine spots on one blanket they refused to give us our 100¥ fee back!! Because they told us they were not able to wash it out?! When we told them you can actually wash it out, they told us we should demonstrate them how to, if we'd be so sure about that?!!!!!... And the blankets looked like they cost not more than 10¥!! Just UNBELIEVABLE!! What CHEEK!!!! I wouldn't recommend going there to anyone!!

The superior queen room is spacious and clean, with break fast included. Airport transfer was listed on Agoda website at the time of booking. This was also included in the remark of my hotel voucher. When I called to make arrangement for airport transfer, I was told by hotel staff, the hotel never provide this facility. Agoda staff initially tried to call hotel to help me settle this. At the end, they denied airport transfer was listed when I requested to cancel this booking with full refund. I would think twice when using Agoda booking.

City Inn Baoan Hotel was a decent hotel but nothing special. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. My complaints were that it was a long way from the central part of Shenzhen - over 22 stops on the subway and then transfer to a second subway for another stop or two - then a walk of about 1/4 mile. The subway portion was nearly an hour so it can be a major headache if you are in a hurry. The opposite end of the subway is the train station to take you into Hong Kong after clearing customs and immigration which was time consuming but efficient. My other complaint was there was no a/c in the hotel. They all advertise a/c in the rooms but the a/c is shut off and you have an open window and fan instead. Not impressive. I would opt to pay more and stay near the train station.
