East Lake Hotel

This gotta be one of the worst hotels I have even been in. I don't think any work has been done on this place for at least the last 20 years. This was the official hotel for the ITF Junior tennis tournament in Shenzhen. It starts with the outside where the initially white walls have taken a blackish tone now. The reception looks very run down. Couldn't see any electronic equipment like PCs or phones. Credit card machine apparently broken, so I had to pay cash. Our room was on the 3rd floor, no lifts... Room smelly and very dirty carpet. The mattress was almost as hard as a wooden plank. Mosquitoes all over the place... There was no way to have a proper rest/sleep. Toilet, zinc and bath tub very run down. We didn't dare to go to the Western restaurant as there wasn't a single guest in it at dinner time. Restaurant wasn't open at 8am for breakfast even though it said it's open from 7am. Maybe we got lucky there. I have no idea why this place got only 4 and 5 star reviews so far...
