Staff members definitely like their hotel which must be a big plus. I was a long term guest from 22Feb2014 until 22Mar2014. Jingtian Garden View Plaza Hotel is conveniently located opposite ’Exit D’ from Jingtian Subway Station. Initially I noticed that too many smokers were not pulled up in foyer and near lifts but this did improve to some degree from 1 Mar2014 when non-smoking regulations became a little more stringent. Mid-way through my stay, my room was upgraded. By this move common flaws + pluses became noticeable. There were no English western speaking television stations. Bath tubs were a good size and properly cleaned daily! There was no run-off to the bathroom floor drain at both the rooms I was allocated. So water just stood around which was inexcusable!! All housekeeping trolleys had a bucket and toilet plunger which says a lot about frequency of toilet blockages. Toilet ballcocks needed to be shoved to get water moving into the toilet tank. Thankfully the internet connections were notably good. Surprisingly, no soap, tooth brush, tooth paste and complementary water came with either room. With my initial room there were noisy rooms from television sets on both sides + for two nights an extremely heavy snorer. In my first Standard Room there was a big clumsy chair and footrest which took up too much space. 1st room was dimly light but short entrance hallway was well light. This bathroom mirror was badly tarnished in parts. There was also a noticeable gap at bottom of my door which let in some corridor noise. Also for the first room allocated, the inside of the toilet ridge wasn’t clean; body waste + possibly other dirt had obviously been long term which must have been seen by GM during his/ hers bimonthly inspections of all rooms. Breakfasts at ground floor Windsor Restaurant were overpriced at 53 renminbi for what you get. At breakfast it was difficult to find a clean table space in Windsor Restaurant. Orange juice (OJ) was terrible; it didn’t taste like anything good. In fact it seemed to be only lolly water soft drink. Bacon was never fresh; as if it had been sitting in serving trays since opening time. Bacon was scrappy; not real rashes. Bacon was definitely never crisp as should be. There was only community butter which was always messy with other food stuffs. Breakfast meals generally, other than prepared from egg counter, was evidently cooked early and so had been ready for a long time. Consequently food was mostly only lukewarm and so could have been unhealthy; need I say more! Breakfast is advertised to 10:00am but staff invariably take food & drink away from about 9:55am or before. Good news was that the Windsor Restaurant had introduced Non Smoking signs on every table & were stringently enforcing. Windsor Restaurant staff members had the bad habit of putting table items on dirty chairs when resetting tables. Many guests appeared to return late into the evening after being taken out for dinner and receiving generous gifts like one evening I saw men coming back to their rooms with dual boxes of Hennessy cognac + much more. Lastly the noise from work on adjacent new subway under construction did not reach the hotel rooms which are all located on floors 18 to 28 of the building.
