Liyuan Hotel

I overnighted at this hotel on a business trip. It is an OK hotel, nothing great. Decor is from maybe the early 90s and the hotel is clean. Breakfast had a fair amount of local choices with decent coffee. The check-in and check-out procedure is incredbily tedious and slow. Three people get involved in the overly manual process. My room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly.

The hotel is average for Chinese standards. For the western traveler with some experience in China and some knowledge of Chinese it is fine. Staff are helpful but don't speak much English. Good for a cheap stay for a night, more critical international travelers best look for something else.

Location is off main street where no taxi stops for you and there are no western traveler friendly food place except for KK Mall which opens at 11 and closes at 9 PM Metro is good 10 minutes walk making you sweat in humid Shenzhen weather and wet in rain. Hotel has only 2 staff that speak English so good luck on any direction help from concierge They are trying hard to help but cannot, so may be OK for Chinese businessman or family. Breakfast is free but only Chinese, Internet is free but wired on desk only. Beds are very firm like any other Chinese hotel so feels like sleeping on floor.
