Oriental Regent

I have been frequently visiting Shenzhen in this year during weekends for fun and great Chinese cuisine. This hotel is always my first choice, never disappoint me. Excellent price around USD40. It's within walking distance (15 mins) to 2 upscale high shopping malls (KK Mall and The Mixc). A metro station is nearly next to the entrance. Otherwise calling DiDi taxi (Chinese uber) is very convenient throughout the city and at a very low fare. Although it's aged and a bit tired, it's very functional in all aspects. Room very spacious, clean, with all amenities like kettle, hairdryer, slippers, safe deposit box, smart phones charger with wires! and toiletries. Air conditioning quiet and cool enough or otherwise I can open the windows. Strong showers. Wifi works well (but prepared that you can't watch youtube with the wifi, it's China!). There's no fridge in the room. It would be perfect if it had. I particularly love this hotel as there's Hong Kong TVB channel available. The views are open and nice too, some rooms facing a park. The buffet breakfast is yummy and generous too with a bit extra charge. This hotel is not that popular to foreigh visitors (I believe it's because Shenzhen has so many choices and of more modern style). This is a real plus to me as I can be indulged in the local vibe. Staff are very nice and helpful. In gist, I will come again and again and again........

room smelt a bit of old smoke, furniture shabby and chipped, bathroom needs retiling as way beyond it's best. the breakfast was Ok although not enough seats for guests. Agree with previous reviews re the bar/coffee area - service took forever as the drinks seemed to come from a different venue and the notion of payment really threw the staff there. bed comfy enough - the biggest gripe I have was the pumping bass I could hear from about 4am onwards. No idea where it was coming from (I was on floor 13) but it kept me awake both nights

A very nice hotel. Excellent choice of food for breakfast. nice air conditioned. The food is very good-taste. We changed hotels every day in China, due to the nature of work. In my honest opinion I would not recommend it. Exudes some wealth. From the fountain in the lobby, to the exterior of the building.
