Gui Shan

The hotel is ideally located in the heart of town next to the Sun & Moon Pagodas and local shopping districts. The rooms are very well laid out with great bathrooms. The buffet breakfast has options for all tastes and being able to eat breakfast out on the balcony is a great option with views of the river and the Sun & Moon Pagodas. The only downside is the lack of desire to communicate in English (even with WeChat or translation apps). Our booking was made through Hotels.com and despite having confirmation emails, they were not being accepted and we were told we didn't have a booking (despite it all being paid in advance). Thankfully I had a Chinese friend with us so he was able to translate for us - after much discussion (about 30 minutes), it was all sorted.

A comfortable Chinese Hotel with great showers. I stayed for 2 nights on business. The hotel is located just behind one of the main shopping streets, newly built. Breakfast could do with some western options.

This hotel is ideally situated across from Xiangshan Park and next to the Sun and Moon Pagoda. Both are minutes away walking. You can enjoy both views from its 6th floor restaurant. The hotel is very clean, which is our most important requirement. Breakfast is included, plus some non-alcoholic beverages in the room. Breakfast consists of mostly Chinese type of food, including the famous Guilin rice noodles. To relax, we spent $19USD each for a 90-minute massage next door in a very clean and serene environment. The staff speaks little English, which might be a drawback. But, the cost and location are definitely a big plus.
