Guilin Jinpu Hotel

I am now staying at this hotel for a holiday. This is my second night. This hotel need to be upgrade. There are unpleasant smell. The hallway to the rooms is so stuffy! The towel is worn out. But, the plus points is, it is located in the center of shopping district ( Pedestrians street) and close to the square.

Stayed for 3 days in June 2013 (arranged by tour agent). Location is convenient to access stores/street shopping and walking distance to lake area. Lobby was OK and clean with internet access. Smoking allowed throughout hotel. Rooms were just OK (single queen/king bed facing frontside; twin bed facing back). Outside noise is bearable. My room on 10th floor had cigarette/smoke smell throughout the night (bad for asthma). Air conditioning sometimes not functioning, just blower. Carpets in room and hallway were dated. Breakfast spread skewed towards local food; did not try (not for Muslims). Receptionists were responsive but only one can speak English.

Hotel currently undergoing renovation to the lobby. Stayed here on two occasions: 8th floor no complaints, but beware ...everything has a price e.g mineral water, bedroom slippers (in plastic wrapper - the plastic ones are free!), anything in the bathroom excluding toothbrush and toothpaste. Only one receptionist speaks English...don't bother to call in case of complaints. Just go to the reception and draw it! Stayed on the 11th floor the second time after our visits...we were overjoyed at being given a suite...but alas, the sink leaked, toilet couldn't flush, and the room was noisy cos it was located at the dining area. You can hear the staff talking, cooking, pulling trolleys etc. Blackout at 4am..and receptionist couldn't understand a word of English!!
